SickKids International recently tackled the topic of healthy nutrition, referencing tips and advice about the best foods for kids from Dr. Mike Evans of St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. Dr. Evans, who also serves as an associate professor of family medicine at the University of Toronto, spoke about the behaviors that often lead to poor eating choices.

According to Dr. Evans, the frequency and consistency of when children eat are as important as the food choices themselves. The doctor stressed the simplicity of three balanced meals per day with two to three healthy snacks between meals as the baseline. Making an easy plan that can be repeated, with simple foods that provide valuable nutrients, is one of the best ways to accomplish this.
